Ice: An Epitaph for Oliver Sacks

The littlest treacheries

often hurt the most:

A fissured confidence,

a malignant phrase

uttered in haste,

can seep into the cracks

of an angst-worn soul,

expand like water

freezing into ice

to force-widen

its open wounds

and harden to encase

and paralyze

its exposed

extremities.
